As I've been flitting about the boards I've noticed an eye with a no entry sign appear on my lower task bar.
Never seen it before and it doesn't appear on all the boards I 've been browsing.
But whose eye is it? and am I being watched or am I watching?
I do have a new pc, this isn't on the works pc either.

It means a cookie has been blocked. Though why MSE cookies would be blocked I'm not sure.
I get it all the time when using IE for other sites because the security level set for the "internet" zone is set to automatically block third-party cookies, and also security programs like spywareblaster blocks a big list of sites that I wouldn't want to be tracked by.
Next tiime it appears, double-click it and see if it tells you what was blocked.
You could also go to Tools, Internet Options, and click on the Privacy tab to see if you've got it set very High/Block Cookies rather than High or Medium High (IE6)0 -
Hi panda,
I've noticed the same thing a couple of times earlier today.......no idea why though. It's never happened on MSE for me before.

Third party cookies are extra ones sites often throw at you on behalf of their advertisers.
Firefox recently (very controversially) dropped the ability to block third-party cookies. They said that in actual fact it's not really possible to block them fully and having the option was just giving people a false sense of security.0
