Home Insurance selling

Just lately I've been dealing with various financial institutions. The snag is that when the business is finished they always ask, "Who is your home insurance with?" Fair enough they are trying to drum up business in these hard times.
What is annoying is when I say "No thanks" in a polite tone they always carry on the sales pitch. So it's "No thanks" again but in a firmer tone. Quite often this doesn't work and I have to be quite rude to get them to stop.
Even today at the bank (Nationwide) after paying in a cheque the guy behind the counter did the same routine. He wouldn't give up and I had to be openly rude to get him to stop.
Why do they do this when I (a customer) get obviously peeved off? The last memory of the "banking experience" is a bad one.
Or is it just me? Dave

They're on targets / commission to obtain renewal dates0

I'm with Nationwide too - I wrote to their Customer Services Department and requested an opt out from marketing at the counter (I even explained to them in the letter that I just want to go to the counter, carry out my transaction(s), and go).0

To stop this you do eitrher of the following
1 Put phone down
2 Turn and show the spotted moooooldoooon your heels0 -
Yes I am aware that they are on targets and I can put the phone down or walk away.
What I am complaining about is that they don't listen to the first polite "no thanks" and push the selling too much so that I get angry. This has two results
1) They must get brassed off at a customer being angry with them.
2) Said customer (me) makes a mental note never to buy home insurance with them. - and I use the comparison sites anyway.
Nobody wins!

Just say
1) Already insured with you. or
2) Just renewed last week. or
3) I tried you for a quote but you were more expensive than my present insurer. or
4) My OH takes care of all my insurances (You could add "they're a broker").
They'll usually just politely cease the conversation. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Simply because they earn a hefty commission for flogging you other products. The answer is to say "I'm busy and in a rush right now. Maybe next time".0
