No cancellation fee car insurance or cheap short term insurance?

Hi there,

I am looking to take out short term car insurance (1-2 months max) as I am moving out of the country soon for a year. I just got a short term insurance quote on dayinsure.com for 28 days and it's coming out at £282 with £500 excess! Last year I paid around £400 for a full year with £0 voluntary excess and breakdown.
Does anyone know of a cheaper place to look or of an insurer where I can pay monthly and cancel without a charge?

Thanks for any help!

can''t you just renew, and then cancel , there could will be a charge over and above pro rata, but generally that would be a cheaper method

This company do a monthly pay as you go policy.
I can't guarantee it will be any cheaper or that they are any good, so it's not a recommendation, just saying it's available.
I've been insured with ebike before an been mostly happy although it's online service ONLY. A friend of mine had a claim with ebike and he was happy.
There are pros and cons to the on-line service.
It's great when you want to add a driver on a Sunday and you can do it on-line.
Bad if they don't answer emails and you can't get hold of anyone.
But on the whole I was happy.
There are some negative reviews of this company on-line, but I've checked out some known good insurers too (like Hiscox and Carole Nash) and they had some bad review as well, so I think only people who've had a negative experience are ever motivated to review, so I don't think you can draw much of a conclusion unfortunately.
