this may be a bit long winded so I apologise in advance... Toucan is provider..to connect to i/net it keeps saying - pick up handset and dial, press ok immediately after dialling, then replace handset 147008456887579, then up comes ok and cancel, press ok, says opening port, then up comes error 638, then request timed out, redial then countdown of numbers from forty, then up comes press boxes cancel or more info, when m/i pressed states internal error check network configeration make sure all are functional. - then when help wizard is pressed it goes through the same as above.
So have I got to get a new computer or is this repairable????

You're unlikely to need a new computer if it was working before. Do you have BT voicemail or something similar? If the phone line is making a different noise to the normal 'ready' noise when you pick up the phone that can often screw up dial up0

there doesnt appear to be anything wrong with the phone, no different noises etc etc...is there anyway to check if the phone number for toucan dial up is correct??? (the 14700845 etc etc)0

Could be something wrong with the modem config, try start run dialer, and see if you can dial a mobile phone number.
Are you using the lead that came with the modem, (some phone leads are wired differently)?Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
i clicked on your link and its great...thanks for that...the only other thing is could you post a link of how to get the "checking dial up settings" and the connection settings, Many thanks again0
