Replacement car options

Options
Some advice please. My car (P Reg Nissan Micra) is dead - an electrical fault, died after stopping for a pee on the motorway and would not restart, Green Flag were inable to diagnose and tow-trucked me home - the MOT has expired and it is currently SORNed. I have attempted to get it sorted (truthfully have probably spent too much) and failed - next stage would be major electrical diagnostics, which I guess is not worth it even though the car is in overall decent nick and had very low mileage.

I am looking at replacement options, roughly the same size (I live in London and a big car is a pain!), and am tempted by a new car with a long warranty (wonder why!) BUT those available with "swappage/scrappage" etc all want a valid MOT. Any bright ideas?

Ignore "swappage" offers - Kia sell the Picanto for £5370 on their "7 year switch" deal yet I bought one for £5550 OTR after finance deposit incentive without this deal.

Get it fixed by a decent back street garage. Better the devil you know and far cheaper than buying a new car. Micra's last for ever, and if its low mileage then might be worth keeping.

Why tie yourself up in finance :)
