You can't go wrong with the Marriot. Its really well located for access to both sides of the river and its near shops, ATMs, restaurants etc.If you found my comment helpful, please click the 'Thanks' button below :T0

The Art'otel is on the river in Buda. Easy to walk to Pest across the chain bridge, convinient for tram/bus and & to do all the nice stuff in Buda.
Have stayed there twice with no complaints. Had a tour round the NH hotels (ok location, but could be better) and the Kemisky (sp) last time we were round because we wanted to stay somewhere else. The rooms in both were nice & the facilities ok. THe Keminsky was nice though.
Location not so much a problem for us as we walk everywhere and our prioritries were convinient location for walking back in a straight, safe line after a night out.
When you get there, use the airport minivan thing at 3,600 for a return, they drop off at the hotel and you can get the hotel reception to ring them for you on the mornign of your return."This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0 -
Not quite what you asked, but I've stayed in the Danubius Grand Hotel Margitsziget. It was a beautiful hotel, and the facilities were excellent, but it is on Margaret Island (jn the middle of the Danube). That seemed like a great idea when we booked it, to be literally in the middle, but it was really inconvenient, and I wouldn't stay on the Island again. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0

You could always consider the Gellert - classical place situated above its own thermal baths, only a short distance from the castle district.

One more thought for Budapest... make sure you do not take a taxi off of the street / outside shopping centres etc, you will end up paying 5 or more times the going rate. Either use your hotel 'rank' ('only' about twice the going rate!) or one of the local firms such as 6x6 or City Taxi, you'll find the phone numbers in on the free maps / guides available in hotels.
The other common scam here is the 'i know you' girls... they start a conversation on the street (particularly Vaci utca) and take you to a very very very expensive bar - no worries if you run out of money though, i have heard that the bouncers are all too happy to walk you to an ATM!!!
Have a great trip!0 -

I always talk to strangers - perhaps best not then

We stayed in the Marriott through Priceline in March this year for about £55 a night. It was great, all rooms with river views and balcony, breakfast wasn't included though. At the time I was happy to bid through Priceline because it looked like the only other hotel I might have got was the Art'otel, and that sounded nice too. Things might have changed since March but we were very happy with the Marriott.0

Upon checking this site, no-one has posted a winning bid for a 4* in Budapest for anything other than the Art'otel or the Marriott as yet.
PM me if you need any help if you plan to bid on Priceline. This space has been intentionally left blank0 -
Can you reserve in advance by Priceline or does it have to be last minute?de do-do-do, de dar-dar-dar0
