Help!! Stuck on toilet seat!!

My toilet seat is stuck-on ;)

It is horrible( inherited from previous owner) and I have a new one ready to replace it.

I have tried to spray the long plastic screw fittings and the nut (?) thing with WD40 but they are stuck fast. I have tried wiggling the seat around to try and loosen it, to no avail. In addition, there is not much space to work in as loo is close to the wall on one side.

Do I need to take a big strong screwdriver (which I can borrow tonight) to the screw at the top or do I need to tackle the plastic nut underneath first?

If it is the nut, can you link to a picture of the appropriate tool to loosen it please.

Any other tips gratefully received.

Thank you

this is a basin spanner. it should help you remove most nuts from difficult places.
    there are various types.

  • Careful though, make sure you remove the right nuts from the toilet seat...

Are you sure you are turning the nut in the right direction? As the nut is underneath, you will have to turn it in a clockwise direction (when viewed from above).

Large screw driver with a wide blade on screw and a pair of pliers or adjustable grips underneath on the wing nut. If possible get someone else to help, it will make it a lot easier.

as to the OP's question, a hacksaw blade and brute force as there is a build up of rust or whatever on the threads
