Admiral Multicar - be careful

Anyones thoughts or advice would really be welcome - I am so angry at what Admiral are doing to us.

In a nutshell -

Needed to insure my 17 year old to drive his 1st car - 1.1 Clio. Best quote I could get was £2700 for him, 3rd party F & T, with Admiral Multicar. I had to give them my car, my wifes and other son's car. Total premium for all cars best part of £5000!

So my youngest son does what most have done and drives into the back of someone and causes minimal damage to the car he has hit but we need to claim.

I telephone on his behalf and get walked through the claim process very professionaly and then Admiral want to talk to my son. He does so and to the best of my knowledge they just ask a few personal questions and ask if he is ok.

Next day I get and email from them thanking me for requesting changes to my policy and the increased premium required is an extra £530 for the remaining 8 months and this has been taken from the card details they have on file!

My son is still at school and has a part time job. When we took out the policy he was a 'shop assistant' he now works part time in the local golf club restaurant. Admiral asked him what he was doing for work in the conversation they had with him and they consider his new job to be a higher risk to them than his old one to the tune of £800 a year. They mad absolutely no mention of an increase during the conversation with him.

I visit go compare and moneysupermarket and get quotes for him using the two different jobs and get exactly the same price quoted in every instance by ALL insurance companies. Not one Ins. company quote more, including Admiral, for his new job.

I complain to Admiral and they give me two choices -

1. Pay £530
2. Don't pay and they will cancel the policy.

Is it just me or does this just seem wrong - what should, can, I do?

Increase is down to his change in job alone. He was always a student with a part time job

Make an official complaint, and ask them to clarify what they classed him as before, and what he is now. If it does not agree with the website, point this out, and if you get nowhere, complain to the FOS, about treating the customer fairly.
