thinking of getting my mum a bird bath for her 60th. I would like something natural looking preferably stone rather than something carved to perfection or made of plastic.
Any suggestions?

Hello dave82
That's a good idea and the birds will love it. Lots of people put out food for wild birds but not everyone has a bird bath.
I bought a stone pillar and bowl (as a set) but the bowl wasn't shallow enough for the birds to bathe, they only ever perched on the rim to drink. I like the stone pillar so kept that but I bought a new shallow dish. Another improvement on the original is that the new dish has a shiny coated surface, which makes it much easier to clean.
The original (too deep) bowl was stone to match the pillar and apart from being very heavy to lift off the pillar to clean, it was also very difficult to scrub clean.
The naughty (stupid) birds poop in the water.:p
So............my recommendation to you is, go to a garden centre and chose a nice pillar and a separate shallow dish.;)
I hope your mum has a lovely birthday and both she and the birds enjoy your present.:D

We obtained a lovely stone one from a reclaim yard, it already had the weathered look, was also cheaper than 'new' from alot of the garden centres.0
