My elderly parents in law require there main phone socket moving from the hallway to the living room, they have mobility issues,do not like cordless phones and mum in law is in the stages of dementia so does not like change at all.I contacted BT and they quoted £130 for this,it's about 6ft it needs moving. They currently have an extension but it is causing interference so that is no good.Is there a reduction for elderly to have it moved.

You can replace the extension yourself for a fraction of that. Could be a faulty connection and it shouldn't be that hard to replace it. If there is a fault with the primary socket BT will fix it. I'm not sure why you would want to pay to move the primary socket. There is no reduction for the elderly.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

An extension 6ft from main should be just as good as main, are you sure the problem is the extension.

Then just rewire the extension. An easy DIY job, or get it done for about £30 by any handyperson. No needs whatever to move the NTE5, for which BT will charge a minimum £130.
Just sounds like a loose connection or bad wiring on the extension.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
