Weather

What a winter. Coldest and snowiest before xmas for a long time. Dullest after xmas for years. Driest March also for years and now I'm having to put shading on the greenhouses and water every day. The only upside is that the nighttime heating is cheaper. It makes you wonder what summer will be like.

It's totally true that Britain has interesting weather.

Last year was a really hard late winter and this year, another hard one, but really early and as you say, very mild since then.

I should have put shading on the GH on Tuesday really, it got far too hot in there.

It'll be snow in July and Storms in August.... but it sure makes life interesting when deciding a)what to wear in the early morning  . b) What in the way of extra clothing/umbrellas, sunscreen, hat, scarf , gloves to take when leaving the house. ;)

    I've been Money Tipped!
Garden centres and Nurseries love this early warm weather.

It means everyone rushes out to buy their summer bedding plants and tender plants only for a late frost to come along and kill them all. So people have to go back to the garden centre and buy replacements.

Dont get lulled into a false sense of security peeps, we could still get some harsh weather...

Garden centres may well sell tender plants now but nurseries probably won't. Problem is the gardener wants a plant, nursery won't sell so they go to a garden centre who will sell anything.

It is a bit of a pain having to go out and water at the moment! But it's a tradeoff I'll accept for this gorgeous weather. I have my fingers crossed that we might've seen the last of the frost down here (near London) but last year we had a late frost at end april/ start may which killed off some beans and damaged potato haulms. I am ready with fleece this year!

Gorgeous weather? I am obviously in the wrong part of the country! We have had loads of rain but in fairness enough dry days to allow me out in the garden but it has been really chilly!

You obviously are in the wrong area :D

Because today it's far too hot to be working here and that's fine by me :)

Glorious day here in south devon, tee shirts, shorts and summer dresses. Spent all yesterday in the garden and just being lazy today and enjoying the sun. Saw 2 familys on the beach yesterday eve, 1 having a picnic and 1 having a barbie.
