    I have always preferred Males. I find girls more stroppy on the whole. I have only ever had males but if/when I get another dog I will neuter him as mine was quite aggressive with other entire males. But females who are not spayed are even more aggressive with other females.

    I would take any dog though male or female, as long as they are trained and loved it doesnt matter.

    Females here as well, I've only had three dogs, 2 bltches and 1 dog, the bltches were/are so much easier than the male. My male dog is as thick as they come and I really despair of him at times :rotfl:, I still love him to bits though.
  • I've had dogs and b!tches and they have both been great, if they are loved then they will be soft I think :)

    Ive had both and probably on balance Id choose a boy. My rottie/lab was a wonderful girl, my soul mate but I have to say that the boys have tended to have the biggest, cheekiest personalities and I love that :)

    But really, dont narrow down your field, see the dog and how well you get on together. Thats the good thing about rescues, they have already developed their personalities. All puppies are cute but they dont all grow up that way.

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    We've always had girls and never considered a boy - then Mr B arrived (when my pal said someone needed to find a home for a choc lab but there was a catch, it as a boy, I must admit I did think twice).

    However, he's the most fantastic person ever and I wouldn't hesitate to have another boy now.

    "Bits" being there was a bit strange at first but I don't even think about it now - when I go to rub DMs dog's tummy, it now seems strange there not being any!

    I'd say if the dog suits you temperament wise that is the most important thing.

    Let us know how you get on - how exciting!:D

    I prefer girl dogs. There is not the risk of visitors legs being humped, though saying that my sisters little girl dog had a humping habit with cushions and her sheepskin rug :eek:! My girl is as good as gold :p.

    I've no real preference really, all my dogs have had their own characters and own little ways. Go and meet the rescue dog OP and see how you feel. Good Luck x
    Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D

    OK, do not laugh at my previous post - I was dead serious ;)

    Saying that, when I was looking for a dog I just knew I wanted a GS, the question of male/female did not even cross my mind at the time - way back had GS boy.

    Came across Zara (then Jessie) on Gumtree and just got her home the same evening...

    You will see the dog and you will just KNOW :)

    All the best
