Just wanted to reassure those going through renewals at the moment that they are not turning everyone down.
My Father in law was awarded HR mobility and HR care in Sep 2009 for the first time (back dated to May 09). He was awarded for 2 years.
So in Feb this year he recieved his renewal papers which we got help with from the CAB. They did ask for a further report from his GP but have come back this week awarding HR mobility and HR care indefinitely.

I can add to that too, both of my children have just received their renewals, and both have received the HR for both components , one indefinitely as he is now an adult, and one for 4 years as he is a child.
I thought I would have a battle, did not even have to go to the CAB for help.
Good luck to everyone who is in the middle of their renewals, I know how worrying it can all be.0 -
May i ask you both when you actually sent your renewals off and when you got the award letter?
Did you also get a letter from them to say they had received your claim, about a week after sending the claim off which also stated that if you hadnt heard anything after 8 weeks that you could contact them?
I sent my renewal on 1st March (received by them 2nd as sent special delivery signed for), i had a letter dated 9th March to say they had received the claim etc. I am still waiting and find it quite stressful as my current claim actually ends 2 May and you just never know what the brown envelope is going to say when you do receive it.
Im pleased for you both that you got your awards without any hassle0 -
I thought more input from ATOS (having a medical) is now required or is that when the new PIP comes in.0

I too can add to it. In Dec last year after many years of receiving DLA I was awarded DLA at the highest rate indefinitely.
I was concerned when I sent my DLA renewal form back as there are many story's of genuine people being turned down. I was pleased that the claim was straight forward and no need to ask for reconsideration. They gave me the decision within 2 weeks of me sending it off. I think maybe as I had a motability car they had to process the claim so that the DLA didn't run out?? (only guessing here but I have never had a decision so quickly!)0 -
Where the hell has my post gone? My post only had information about my husband's renewal for DLA and was in answer to a fair question from diolch.
There was definitely nothing in my post to warrant removal so why has it been removed?
FCS I'm really fed up of MSE deciding to removed posts when there is no justification for it and then not even bothering to tell you why.0 -
My post AGAIN.

Hubby got awarded DLA 2 years ago in May 2009, DLA MRC, HRM without a medical, this may be because he was placed in the support Group for ESA almost at the same time even though he didn't have a medical for that either. We think this may be due to the illness/condition he has.
Renewal was due in May this year so the form came Jan 2011. We sent form off on 8th March and got award letter on the 8th April (same as previous award) MRC, HRM again without a medical.
Both times the whole process took less than 5 weeks from them receiveing the forms to us getting the award letter.
So it is possible to go through both ESA and DLA claims without a medical but in 2013 everyone on DLA will go through a medical regardless of condition I believe.0 -
I too renewed this year, it took 5 weeks exactly from when they received my form to getting a letter saying I had been awarded HRM and LRC indefiniately..
Good luck to all those waiting for a decision0 -

It's not often that people post good news stories, so i thought i would add to it. My renewal took 10 weeks, they requested more info from my gp then sent an atos doctor to see me, then made a decision - my award was increased.0

I had a success story though it was about 18 months ago. Again within about 2 weeks of umptieth renewal. Indefinite (makes life so much easier)...Lower rate than initially awarded first time I applied (but had been last renewal) but all okay. Still get my bus pass etc which makes so much difference.
You see it's not just the DLA but the things it entitles you to like cheaper bus fares and rail fares (and when I'm sick I can't even cross roads safely).
My secret is to pray to God and seek him first. I know I shouldn't really harp on about him on here and stuff but he's my only security and I find he provides all my needs if not my wants.
I'm also in a pilot area for ESA (we started last October here) and I still haven't got the dreaded brown letter through so whilst I am prepared for it coming (straight onto welfare rights) I'm not as anxious as I was..
