If you are wondering why nobody has answered this yet, it is probably because you have posted your question on the Credit Card Board where most people are interested in the subject of, er, credit cards.

As long as the car hasn't been specially ordered, ie due to you speccing certain things, or registered, any decent BMW dealer should just refund you. If it has entered the build stage or been registered, then you may struggle.

IMO it will depend on the contract - whether oral or written.

It does seem pretty stupid though to make a deposit of £1000 without having a written contract to go by.

Just tell the dealer that you can't read and they should cancel the agreement for you.
