Panic,
Just discovered that payroll have still gone ahead and placed my wages in the Barclays account, despite the reassurance on Wednesday that they wouldn't. They have still arranged for a cheque to be made available ( I hope ) later today, but my worse fear is that Barclays have already taken their slice, I darent check at the ATM to see whether I can draw money out, incase my card is taken, as I need this as proof of signature when colecting the cheque.
What does anybody else think. In a bit of a dilemma because even though I may get the cheque, Barclays have got funds out of me, and my work may try to recover what they have paid into the Barclays account, although it wasnt my fault, which will mean on the next pay day I may not be paid. On Wednesday afternoon i was advised that everything was sorted out.
Its 3am in the morning, cant sleep, hacked off and worried at the same time.
The advice that i was given by the DMP, was firstly open another acount, which I did and secondly, IF funds did go into exisiting acounts, where debt lies, the bank would take it against o/s debt, as the DMc said they have most probably started or have already frozen the account. Only been with the DMC for a couple of weeks. Are they scaremongering or advising me correctly?

Oh my goodness, I can't believe it. Why has this happened? Who's to blame? And what are they going to do to recompense you?
Please tell me they haven't still had the gall to charge you £25?I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your response. I was advised on Wednesday after being on the phone to my manager and personnel, that the bacs transfer would be recalled and a cheque issued for me to collect today, after lunchtime. the cheque can be cashed straight away. So i thought problem solved. I asked personel did i need to ring in again to confirm that arrangements had
ben made, but was advised to go and collect my cheque.
As for the sum of £25, this is an internal matter, between one departmnet and another. Anyway, my manager agreed to pay this, although initially hesitant. For petes sake, you would think it was ££££'s.
I am not sure how bacs recalls work? will they try and claim back the wage at a later date? I did advise them that that bank account is possibly frozen now, hence why i didn't want my wage going in. If they do try and reclaim, the bank will most probably decline. lol
Plan of action.
1. Not to get too worked up.
2. Ensure that my cheque is available for collection.
3. Let my wages department and Barclays sort it out.
4. Think twice when people are giving me reassurances.
5. pay my dues then relax
My partner is still asleep so obviously is not aware of what has happened. It is so unfair, I did everything asked of me, opening new acount, advising employers of details after giving them plenty of time.
As for the DMC, if the information that they have given is innaccurate then they can get ready. A lot has happened in the past two weeks, sometimes difficult to take it all in, sometimes quite rushed. But when you are exerting trust in other organisations to carry out their responibilities towards you, I think it is only right, that information, progress etc, should be accurate, to the point, first time every time.

Giddy don't worry about it you have done everything you could to stop your wages going in to that account if your employer loses out because of it its their own fault as far as I am concerned!! Having said that I doubt your employer will lose out.

As far as BACS goes, if an error has been made the bank making the BACS payment can recall it THE SAME DAY. Once that banking day is finished the the bank making the payment can request that the money be returned but the receiving bank don't have to agree.
It is a hassle to retrieve funds paid in this way - manual intervention to an automated process. Whether they agree should depend on the paying bank proving it was made in error rather than the state of your account. It could also depend on the repetitive nature of the payment.
I once had a regular payment paid twice. when I complained they paid me for lost interest and an extra £20 but said that it was too much hassle to retrieve and they could see that the same payment was often repeated so didn't see the need to recall. Your pay could be considered similarly.
Hopefully it will have been stopped the same day.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hi,
Thanks for all your comments. A big sigh of relief at last. I went into work early this morning, and rang personnel and told them what had happened. They advised that they couldn't understand why and had been speaking to payroll on my behalf yesterday afternoon, and also flagged up what the account status with Barclays currently is. They were then going to look into the issue and get back. Oh by the way, I was also advised that the cheque had been done and would be ready at lunchtime.
I rang my partner to tell her what happened (not happy) and just out of curiosty sake, went onto online banking at work, and found it had been recalled.
Went to get the cheque this afternoon, hugh sighs of relief. Paid the rent, phew!!.
Im absolutely demented with the whole carry on, thank god its the weekend!!
Next pay goes into the new account, then we can really sort ourselves out.
Thanks for everyones concern, it really means alot.0 -
