as i've said in Multiable posts Moonraker my question is WHY they do it..

surely a limit is a limit.. not.. ok here is your limit but we'll let you go 1/5th of your limit over.

unsure why your making post, as they're neither advise or abuse :( suppose, got to get the count up :(

    • To save you the potential embarrassment of being declined at the checkout?
    • To rake in overlimit charges?

They do it because banks / finance companies rely on people to make mistakes or mis-manage their affairs, they hope you make the bad choice, that is why they only lend to adults.

Your situation was down to mismanagement on your part but because you have such a high limit on the card its thrown you into this situation. Do yourself a favour and cut the limits down on the card and get them paid up for the sake of you credit rating.

    good luck.

    Oh dear !

They question is NOT why they do it - they do. Anyone with half a brain cell should be aware that ALL of the banks are quite happy for you to transgress so that they can hit you with another £30 here or £25 there - or a late payment fee or two.

If you are not capable of reading what the T & Cs are - AND - more importantly, knowing how much you have spent then to be honest you shouldn't be let out on your own.

I do wonder at times why I do bother to post here when I come across people who are completely oblivious to their own shortcomings then complain when these are pointed out to them..............
  • James, the idea with credit cards or any form of borrowing is that it's only available to over 18's who are meant to be classed as respoinsible adults.

With all greatest respects, any company who offers you credit which you take is your choice if you use this and they don't make you use it either - they provide you with a limit they think you would be able to manage inline with other active/previous borrowing arrangements.

Time to take control and as others have said, contact them ASAP and get a payment plan set-up to get this paid off pronto.

I hope you manage to get everything resolved :)
