open a dropbox account and upload the file into the public folder then send an email with the public link of the file to the person, file size is upto 2GB as that is the size of a free account, (you can also use live skydrive (hotmail) for any file upto 50MB).
I personally wouldnt use any old free file sharing site as you have no idea on the integraty of the data, how long it would be stored and who has access to it.
Yeah because dropbox is not the same as a "free file sharing site"
Someone recommended ftp? The general layman wouldn't know what this was, let alone have an ftp client!
As above dropbox, rapidshare, yousendit etc. The best way is one of these0 -

.......but to get to and from it, it is still travelling through the "wide open spaces" of the web :cool:
Personally, I use the free version of YouSendIt

For an occasional transfer of a really big thing like a large video file, I'd recommend the "public URL" function of dropbox. If what you're sending isn't confidential, the minor security risk of emailing the URL is fine. If you're transferring a lot of files between you and another person, you could also use the same dropbox account on both computers, which also obviates the security risk. I've used both approaches for home video stuff.0

Do you use P2P, outlaw? Frostwire?
If you're already set up then that might be your best option.
Otherwise, Dropbox.I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.
But, if the white runs out, I'll drink the red.0 -
