Trying to compare gas and electricity prices
Options
Dear All
I think I'm going slightly mad here so hope someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong (if anything).
I have so far tried 4 comparison sites to compare gas and electricity prices and I've put in the same details on each site. I've used KWH rather than my payments so that they can calculate prices on what I've actually used in the last 12 months.
Now Uswitch and Moneysupermarket have both said that swapping to Scottish Power (online energy saver 13) would save me £28-£30pa or B Gas (websaver 11) £10-£12pa
I've then tried Confused.com and Compare the Market and they both tell me that my current supplier is the cheapest by some £30 even on the above two suppliers.
So now I'm confused - would I be better off changing suppliers or not?????

You're obviously already on a good tariff. When the saving is only £2-3 per month there's no point in switching.0

Disregard what they say you will save. Just look at what you have paid for the last 12 months (using actual bills not DD) and what the site says it will cost you for the next 12 months.
This is especially true if you are currently on a tariff that is due to end as the site makes assumptions about what tariff you will go onto which does not appear to be the cheapest from the same supplier. I was told I would save about £130 compared to the tariff they expected me to go on, however when I compared the price against the new tariff offered by my current supplier I would only be saving about £20.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
