Ideas for things to do in Chester

I wonder if anyone can offer some ideas. I am taking my 2 children (12 and 8) to Chester. Any ideas for places to go - we have a car. We are staying at a caravan park on monday until friday. My son supports Man Utd so I am looking at taking him to watch the reserves match on Tuesday evening in Altrincham so ideas around that area would be useful. Many thanks.

Chester city centre itself is gorgeous and it interesting to walk around the city walls and see the Roman remains. If its a nice day you could go down by the river Dee and have a ice cream, go on a boat ride and chill out. Shopping is good as well.
The Crocky Trail, which would be perfect for your kids http://www.crockytrail.co.uk/default.php
Ellesmere Port, not far away has the Blue Planet Aquarium and Cheshire Oaks designer outlet village.

    Living and loving it :)

Greenacres Farm Park in Mancot Queensferry (if its not where your staying as they have caravans tents too,) Is a good day out esp for kids your age. Chester itself is a great day out with boats on te dee . Train to Liverpool to watch a decent team or a ferry cross the mersey, Delamere Forest and go ape there lots lots lots to do.

While in Altrincham, You are not far from the Traford Centre . As well as the obvious shopping opotunity, there are lots of attrarctions but most are not that cheap.

Ariel Extreme High Rope Course, Legoland Discovery Centre, Paradise Indoor Crazy Golf, Laser Quest, Cinema, Snow Dome and I'm sure loads more.
  • There is the Blue Planet and Cheshire Oaks shopping outlet village very close to each other about 15 miles form Chester. Also Chester racecourse. You can walk the Roman walls visit the cathedral and go on a boat trip on the River Dee
