I think your doctor said it should be below 140/90.

"Normal blood pressure is between 90/60mmHg and 140/90mmHg.
If your results fall outside this range, your GP or health professional may discuss this with you."

Ideally, blood pressure should be 120 over 80. More info here http://www.bpassoc.org.uk/BloodPressureandyou/Thebasics/Whatisnormal.................

What really amazed me was that my GP made no attempt to help me understand how the weight / stress / too much salt, etc. might be contributing to the rise in my blood pressure. It was simply "take these tablets; you'll have to take them for life" and that was that.
Hopefully, I won't ...
Thats a real shame. I started on BP tablets yesterday, I'm only 39 and ashamed. I am determined not to be on them for life and my doctor and I have agreed if I can lose 2 stone we will stop the prescription and see if my BP has reduced to a normal level.
I do have a very stressful working life (due to my personality not the actual role!) and a family history of hypertension, my levels have been high for over six months of testing before they decided BP tablets were the best solution. I do suffer from white coat syndrome slightly but have had normal levels recorded by my surgery in the past."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

I've just started on 2.5mg Ramipril with average readings of 145/107, my GP tells me its the lower reading thats a particular problem. I'm no expert but your prescription seems a little extreme."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
I have had a Braun wrist monitor for about 18 months.
This was purchased on the recommendation of my Doctor that I monitor my BP regularly. This was after my elevated BP had come back to normal. This had happened after I had been on tablets for a couple of years. The Doctor was very careful about withdrawing the tablets and this was done over a number of weeks slowly reducing the dose.
After I bought my own monitor I had it with me at the next appointment and we compared reading with his professional kit. My monitor slightly under reads and we check this occasionally.
I now visit him twice a year with my readings which he carefully looks at.
I am pleased to say my BP remains normal without any tablets.
I think being retired and not having much stress helps.
Latest reading 104/70. This under reading is close to MY target 120/80
I record my BP using Evernote. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
By all means discuss blood pressure and related equipment but can you keep off discussing medications please as that should only be discussed with your doctors, thanks.0
