In law all shops invite you to treat - as a general rule, a display of goods at a fixed price in a shop window or on a shelf in a self-service store is an invitation to treat and not an offer. An offer may be made by a prospective buyer. At this stage, the retailer may accept or reject that offer.

An offer must be a clear, unequivocal and direct approach to another party to contract. For this reason, advertisements, catalogues or store flyers are not offers. Nor is a FOR SALE sign on a used car. The law calls these invitations to treat; essentially invitations to the general public to make an offer on a particular item.

An invitation to treat is a mere declaration of willingness to enter into negotiations; is is not an offer, and cannot be accepted so as to form a binding contract.

You made an offer of 75p to Tesco but they didn't want to enter into a contract at that price, so you don't have a leg to stand on legally.

So you know its not the right places yet you still post this.

    Unbelievable

Jeez, and you wonder why people are scared to post anything on here! If you have to make a point about posts on the wrong board, please do it in a nice way, its not necessary to be rude and make people feel bad.

And am I the only person that doesnt check every single board religiously every morning 'just in case'? I often see things on Grabbit, which technically may be in the wrong place, but I would have missed otherwise. Just my two pennorth lol.....

Hhhmm, blame culture? The OP made an offer but the offer was, quite legally, rejected. The OP made a fuss and the shop, quite legally refused to budge. You expect that the shop should therefore offer an apology to the OP for being upset and embarrassed that an offer they made was rejected?
Without wishing to seem rude (although it'll undoubtedly come across that way because there isn't a polite way of saying it) I think the OP should suck it up and consider that they've learnt something, skweaming and stamping feet because you don't get your own way isn't a particularly mature way to act.

I know this isn't a grab it but I know you will know the answer.

I know this isn't an answer, but as you deliberately chose to post your question in the wrong place I know you will know why it isn't an answer.

Rules are there for a reason ;)

In a word - yes. Because it clogs this prime board up with garbage, which makes it less useful and wastes people's time.

An advertisement can be an offer if intention can be shown.
