computer desk price puzzlement

OK folks, I'm basically in need of a new desk for my computer. I'm currently using a Workstation, one of those sort of compact desks on wheels which are tall sort of thing. The Argos item 619/1102 is a good example of what sort of desk I currently have.

My desk is getting somewhat long in the tooth so to speak. So I've been searching round for a replacement workstation. I live in a flat and thus somewhat limited on space.
As I've been searching round, whether it be my local office suppliers, Argos, Amazon and various other suppliers online or otherwise I've noticed something that is confusing.
As the above Argos Workstation is coming on £180, I realise that's a bit high in price, yet other types of desks which probably use the same or more amount of wood are almost £100 cheaper.
Argos item 617/1201 which isn't a workstation, but rather a wide desk costs nearly £80.

Amazon is selling something as far better quality than the Argos one for not much more in price. http://!!!!!!!.com/3fotzds
Various companies sell these sorts of desks at far lower price than workstations.
Can anyone tell me why two products with similar amount of resources have so huge a price difference? And why the desk that uses up more space with its width is the cheaper?
Oh yes, if anyone can recommend a desk or workstation at a cheap price, brand new and the suppliers? No eBay recommendations thank you.

Money Saving wise does your current 'desk' albeit 'old' serve your purposes? My car is long in the tooth but does the job I require.0

And besides - Argos (the high street retailer) is .co.uk NOT .com ?“That old law about 'an eye for an eye' leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.”0 -

Sorry about that. It wasn't like that before I hit the submit button. I tried to use (tiny url .com).
Here's the sort of workstation which I have.

This is a desk from Argos which appears to be pretty much out of stock.
