you can get the full fitting kit for the ford ka on ebay and its a 5 minute job to change it.
dont worry about turning the volume up either, although it might state 4x50W on the stereo it will be more like 4x12W at best, you will be able to tell if the speakers are struggling because they will start screaming at you...lol.
the only awkward thing for you is working out why one speaker isnt working,it could just be a dodgy cable,or a dodgy speaker,i dont suppose you have access to a multimeter do you?
Hi Paulmx3, found the kits on ebay and they are alot cheaper than all the bits quoted on the Halford site.
I don't have a multimeter myself but can probably borrow one. I am hoping it's just a dodgy cable, can I check that myself?0 -
If you want to be really cheeky, go to Halfords, grab one of every radio key they sell, ask if you can try them in your car to see which one you need.
Go to your car, remove the radio with the keys, unplug it, go back to Halfords apologies but none of them worked. Drive home.
If you feel guilty about this, just compare the prices they charge on any random item to the price you can buy it elsewhere.
Thanks Lum, that really made me laugh. I would be cheeky, if I knew what I was doing0 -
OP - are there two holes on the front of the stereo on each side?
They are where the removal tools go. If so, 4 short pieces of rigid thick wire will do it. Push them in the holes and it disengages the catch. You then need a fascia adaptor that covers the big hole and your new stereo fits into that. The rest is just a case of plugging it in - you may need an adaptor lead.
There is absolutely no way I would pay an unskilled monkey 70 quid to fit a stereo!0 -

A lower-powered amp will cause more damage to speakers when cranked up than a more powerful one will. All that clipping will crucify the drive units.
The Ka is a piece of cake to change the radio on. Loads of space. Just need the removal keys (£1), a new fascia (£6), a Ford ISO adaptor (£2) and ten minutes of your time. Dead easy.0 -

Hi Mustard Dave, that is exactly as mine looks, shows how much notice I take of my car as I can't remember seeing any holes, but I will have a look. It does sound really easy from all the advice I have had on this post and £70 is alot of money.
Thank you very much for your really useful post with photo0 -

Hi Jase1, you have made that sound so easy lol, I am going to have a look for the holes that Mustard Dave said about and then buy a kit off ebay and have a go.0
