Hi Folks

I have a 2002 Fiesta Flight. Can someone please advice how often I should wax it.

For example, do I need to wax it after washing the car every time?
Apart from bringing the shine to the car body, what other benefits are there for waxing the car?

Thanks in advance.

using a decent wax will give some protection to the paint work.. personally i used to wash , dry, polish, wax every 2 weeks or so then again i loved my old mk4 r reg fiesta :(

    Wax or clay ?

Can't remember the last time I waxed the car, used turtle wax so never really bothered.

    Hi Folks

Thanks for you replies so far. I used to wax my car once a month when I first bought it, but found that the wax was difficult to take off on a cold day. Now, I wax it once a year! Do you think I should wax it more often?

    Thanks

I wax mine with proper wax (Autoglym High Definition Wax) about every six months but use a quick wax (Wax it Wet) every time I clean the car. Seems to work fine for me.

    Hi

Apart from the shine of the body work which is created when waxing the car, are there any other benefits in waxing?

I find it washes easier when waxed up and takes less time. Dirt doesn't stick to it so much so you can fly through the job.

UV protection so my red car doesn't go too pink in the sunshine over the years.

  • prevents tarr sticking to the acual paintwork as the layer of wax is on top of it, prevents UV fade damage to paint and orange peal to the laquer, can prevent small stones chipping the paint work.

use a good decent wax and dont apply thickly. a small amount should be worked into the paint not slapped on till every pannel is whit you want just a haze of it over the paint work and buff off with a lint free cloth i use a micro fibre polish mit (turtle wax one about £3,00)

meguires carnuba wax or clay bar
auto glym high def polish or super resin.
original turtle wax (in a tin cheap but good)

i do it every 2 weeks during the summer and whenever theres a break in the winter rain.

dont forget to do the roof as that is the main thing that the sun likes to eat at and birds like to aim for, birds poop is full of acidic properties that can eat away paint work over time.

I wax my car every time I wash it... but then I've only had it 7 years and 150k miles, so that makes a grand total of once :)
