I am going to Praia da Luz in August with 8 other family members - any advice would be most appreciated. We're currently trying to find the cheapest way to get us all from the airport if you know the best way? Also any restaurant recommendations would be much appreciated!

For A/P transfers I suggest you look at https://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3431
The transfers seem to charge the same for 1-4 passengers, 5-8, and 9-12. I believe 9-12 passengers are about €150 each way.
My favourite restaurant in Luz is Limetree. The one I mentioned earlier in this thread has closed but the owner is opening Casablanca further up the road from Limetree. Praia da Luz is 4-5 kilometres from Lagos where there is a great selection of restaurants and they tend to be cheaper there.
The following website is the best I know for general info of the area

Any specific question , just ask.

    Hi,

I'm thinking of booking a self catering holiday in the area. Where would you recommend as the best place to base ourselves - Lagos, Luz or somewhere else? Also is it better to hire a car or use public transport to explore the area? We like visiting different places and find hiring a car usually works best as long as driving and parking are not too difficult. Would you say they are reasonable over there?

    Thanks for your help!

Was in Praia Da Rocha last year, and was surprised at how cheap it was to eat out. Portion size wasnt tiny either. We did however hit the 'Continente' for supplies for lunch.

As I have a house in Luz I am biased. As in all things people are different and so are places. Luz is quieter and more refined whereas Lagos has more happening. Both are 60 miles from the A/P and transfers can be pricy. That makes hiring a car a no brainer. Parking is not plentiful but it is not too bad. I always recommend a visit to the "end of the world" at Cabo Sao Vicente
