    Hm, link works for me.

All I did was go to ebay and search for 'comforter'

Just had a mooch on e-Bay and 'comforter' seems to be a little happy feet penguin soft toy.

(That's aside blankets and other small soft toys)

Maybe they thought the toy was actually a blanket - the body on them does seem rather flat.

Just looked further and the majority of them are in the 'soft toys' catagory, so if OP's was too, then the buyer has made the mistake of not checking everything properly.

Freddie, was the size of it mentioned in the listing?

  • It was listed under disney toys, I didnt mention the size as I didnt open the packets.
Am I right in explaining to buyer that it is obv a language misunderstanding, giving a link to Wikipedia and that as he didnt ask the size I will not be refunding.

Ah well, I'd just let them know that they didn't check the cat. properly and if they look on e-Bay.co.UK, they will see that 'comforters' are also small soft toys for children and not just blankets.

  • If it was listed on ebay UK, then it's the buyer's responsibility to check that the word doesn't have a different meaning over here. If you listed it on ebay.com he might have a point.

All this confusion could have been avoided if everyone used the proper term:

I asked my granddaughter, and she says "It's a Cuggly, silly!"
  • Thanks everyone, I have sent an email giving links to the other comforters on ebay and explained that it was co.uk so I wouldnt be giving a refund. Hope he dosent neg me now!

    THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP.
  • Didn't you say he'd already left neutral? If he's already left feedback he can't change it now, so you wouldn't get a neg in any case.
Have you left feedback for him yet? A mutual feedback withdrawal removes the rating (i.e. pos, neg or neutral) but not the comments, and the number of mutually withdrawns appears on the member's feedback page. However, I think it can only be done after both parties have left feedback, so if one leaves positive, that would diminish any incentive for the other to withdraw. In this case, though, I don't think the buyer's done anything to warrant non-positive f/back. It's a crazy system.
Since you say the item went for a good price, depending on how "good" the price was, I might be inclined to offer a part refund as a goodwill gesture if I were in your position.
  • He can mutually withdraw feedback, if it bothers you I'd take him up on it.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Op please feel comforted in the fact that everyone is on your side. Give up trying to pacify your US buyer. He is the dummy.
