Lloyds Airmiles Duo Premier Amex

Hello

I currently have the fee-free Amex Duo card but want to upgrade to the Premier Duo to collect more miles/receive the companion tickets.

I popped into my local branch yesterday but was told only those who also have a Lloyds current account can get the Premier card because the £50 has to be charged to the current account. I can't find this mentioned anywhere in the MSE guide, or on the Lloyds or Airmiles websites (the only thing I can find is that those with a Premier current account don't have to pay the fee at all), but maybe I have just missed it.

Has anyone else had a similar problem/can point me to where this requirement is stated? Normally I would just accept that the person I spoke to in the branch knows best but they didn't seem that sure themselves and I was in a bit of a rush so couldn't stay to query it.

Any help would be appreciated!

If you click on the Credit Cards tab at the top of the LloydsTSB website, then on the LEFT, choose Lloyds Airmiles Duo Premier Credit Card. When that has opened you will see on the right hand side a link which takes you to the Lloyds Airmiles Duo Premier summary box. Under the Fees section it will tell you that a £50 fee is charged unless you have the Premier Current Account.

I was offered this card and was told that I would have to pay £50 from my current account. I presume that that fee would have been waivered if I held a Premier current acccount.

Hi Debs15, thanks for your response but it doesn't really answer my question - I know that the fees section tells you that there will be a £50 fee unless you have a Premier Current Account. However, what it doesn't say (and, as per my initial post, it doesn't seem to say anywhere) is that, if you do not have a Premier Current Account, you can only pay this £50 fee from a Lloyds Current Account i.e. it cannot be charged to the card/taken from another current account i.e. a Natwest account. From what you've said in your second post you are a Lloyds Current Account holder; I am asking about those of us who are not.

Yes I see what you mean. Like you , I am now puzzled too! These banks don't make their T&C very clear do they? It is a question that needs answering though...

In other words, what they don't tell you is that you have to have a bank account, be it a Premier or bog-standard current acccount with LloydsTSB.

Why would they want you to pay from another bank account?
They are there to make money - one way is to cross sell services.

If you want the card - open a current account with LTSB put £50 annually in it - job done.

Debs15 - exactly. As far as I can see (and I stand to be corrected if I have missed it) but it doesn't tell you anywhere that you need to have a Lloyds Current Account and, if it does, it certainly doesn't make it clear.

jonesMUFCforever - I appreciate your argument regarding cross selling/opening a current account with them but that is really the incidental issue. My point is, as I say above, that this requirement appears to not be comunicated anywhere in the material available online.

"An annual fee of £50 on or around the anniversary of the date the first annual fee was
charged to your account unless you hold a Premier current account in which case the
    fee will not apply."

Very true in what you said I would contact card services rather than going into the branch, ive looked through all Ts and Cs and also cant see anywhere that you have to hold c/account
Can I find out my credit score?
You do not have a single credit score or rating. Different organisations take different information into account when working out your credit score and may have different scores for different products. (Kindly from Experian)
