Can you find out if a cars insured by its reg plate?

Sadly a friends been involved in an accident. Is there a way online on telling please which insurance company the 3rd party is with?

you can't find out if someone is insured that way - but when someone hit my car while we were parked in a supermarket carpark; he refused to give me his details - i got his number plate and reported it to my insurance company; WHO TOLD ME WHO THE CAR WAS INSURED WITH.
So tell your friend to report it to her insurance company; they'll give her the details of the 3rd party insurance.0 -

You can confirm they are insured for free, and find out who with (complete with contact details) for £3.750 -

It actually only you OWN vehicle you are allowed to check for free...you are asked to tick a box on askmid to confirm that the car you are checking is owned by you...
In saying that , how many people actually stick to this rule, I know I have used it to check cars that dont belong to me before.
