Taking up gripper

What's the best way to take up gripper (the spikes that hold carpet in - think that's right word for it)? We've taken up carpet in our bedroom as has nice wooden floor underneath. How should I go about taking up the gripper and what tools do I need?

an old screwdriver and chisel. a claw hammer. and a pair of pincers/pliers.
a rubbish bucket helps, to collect all the bits. as you go along.Get some gorm.0 -
I use a crowbar.Ram it under the gripper neaxt to a nail and prise it up.With a crowbar, your hand is nowhere near the nails, which can cause a lot of damage if you catch them. You should wear gloves anyway as precaution.0

When you lever it up, put a bit of scrap wood or similar under the lever or you risk making a nice dent in the wooden floor!
