Tell them to leave it alone.
Do your kids not do as they're told?.....0 -
Lock them both out in the garden when it's raining. shut the curtains on them but keep an eye on them out of another window. They'll realise you mean business and normal service shall resume.0

Kids will figure out how to get around any contraption you invent. I would imagine it would also come back to irritate you at a later date.
Electric chair and wack around the head gets my vote.0 -

We had sliding patio doors in the hall of the house I grew up in (not our DIY idea I'll add) and my mum used a walnut left over from the Christmas hamper as a door stop to stop the slide shutting fully and trapping fingers. Since no one ever eats the walnuts anyway - she was on to a winner there.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

I put a safety gate up last summer so the door could stay open but also had the peace of mind that my ds couldnt get out... it was great and is a safe solution0

im having the same problem with my little one, you can buy a bar that fits in the door to keep it open, have a look on safe tots website under sliding door and window block about £2.99 i think!0

In case someone out there has a bright idea - we've got patio doors which swing open, and they blow shut in the wind. They only open to 90 degrees, not flat against the wall, and the ground drops away, so we can't prop them open with a doorstop. What we really need is a hook fixed to the wall to hold them open, but does anyone know of any other products that might be used to keep them open?0
