Esporta are a disgrace!!!

Having been a member of my local Esporta club for over ten years, I rejoined in January after the club's refurbishment because of the New Year 2 month half-price special and because of my delight of the new facilities.

However, 3 months on I have just begun to start paying the full fee, which to my surprise has been debited from my account as a full membership fee, rather than the discount student rate I had been promised.

This has been the deciding factor that I now wish to end my membership with Esporta, even though I am locked into a 12 month contract.

I have multiple complaints towards the staff and the facilities of the gym. My consultation with my 'personal trainer' was an absolute joke. The guy simply didn't care and left me standing there whilst he took phone calls on his mobile phone, chatted to other members and when I enquired about the use of cardio machines, he told me I would be able to figure them out for myself. Not only was this rude, very unprofessional but it also displayed a bad attitude towards members who pay extortionate fees for use of these facilities.

The equipment there is extremely high tech and state of the art. You can dock your iPod into the machine, record your workout using Nike+ and watch TV on your own machine. All sounds great during the sales pitch, but then you find out just how unreliable the equipment is and that only 1 in 5 treadmills actually work properly. The rowing machines are also impossible to use, as they are not fixed to the floor properly. Consequently they slip on the floor with every stroke until you crash into a wall. I have raised this issue with the gym staff but nothing this has not been rectified 3 months later.

I have been let down by what I have experienced at Esporta so far, everything that was pitched to me has turned out to be false. For example, if you look on the Esporta Hampshire website you will see a picture of a nice outside pool with nice, modern, wooden outside furniture and sunbeds. The reality is that at the same pool there are bits of broken white plastic furniture thrown all over the place and not one of those wooden sunbeds in sight.

I really want to get out of this contract as I no longer trust Esporta with my membership fee, nor do I trust them with providing me a decent level of service I expect from such a price. I had a better experience at my local Spirit health club round the back of a Holiday Inn, which I will be returning to once I get rid of my Esporta membership.

Any ideas of how to contact the club directly and fight my case? I really want to take this to the manager, but on the website no e-mail is given for the club, only a form to contact one of the team.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Try complaining to John Cleland, Esporta CEO, via sending him an email to john.cleland@esporta.com.

You may need to wait 3 days for a response.

    Good luck.
