Asia, here I come (back)

Well, my dear old Britain, as much as I love you I just don't think I can stick around and watch you turn into a welfare dependant, high tax, yobbish backwater anymore. I'm heading back to the wonderful shores of Asia . .
I've been here two years, three months. Been a great time. I timed it perfectly from a markets point of view and the financial targets (managed funds and pension) that I gave myself a four year target to achieve have been almost reached in just over half that period: thank you global financial crisis - you've worked your magic well.
I've been offered a job with my existing firm in Hong Kong. Tons of Asia travel, so I can head back to beloved Thailand every couple of weeks. My UK salary and pension plus 20%, and all made so much sweeter by a 15% income tax rate.
And no VAT. No CGT. No National Insurance. So, no more feeling like I'm paying 50% of my income to snotty-nosed ASBO kids on estates, thieving money from me and their oafish tattooed dole-bludging parents. Or the waste of the NHS. Or for Breast-Feeding Coordinators in Peckham.
I love Britain. I just can't stand living here and watching it die.

All the best. Don't forget to meet up with Sibley and Ting Tong when in Thailand.0

Good on you Bendix. Just what I did. Last 6 years of career in Asia. You can really make a pile over there, and it's an education living in a world where people 'work' and people 'save'.
The sad thing, perhaps, is that you will be posting on here at 'odd hours' and will perhaps miss the opportunity to be the first to congratulate those who want to sell their pension. Or stop paying into their fireman's pension just because it's got a bit worse. And you missed the joy of explaining to someone the surprising fact that pensioners have to pay tax on their pensions the same as anyone else.
Just [true to form] to correct your post. I don't think you are paying 50% of your income to the great unwashed. These days, I think it's nearer 55% once you factor in the VAT, Fuel tax, and extra 1% NI. Surely you will miss the occasions when you can walk down the UK High Street during the day - trying to spot a male without ear-rings and a female without tattoos. But it's getting virtually impossible these days.
Give Cameron a few more years, and the boy might have sorted something out.
Then again, perhaps he's on a hiding or nothing.
Last point: As most people know, it's essential to have a holiday every 3 months while in Asia. Next time, as a change from Thailand, you must go to Bali. Oberoi Hotel. Get your own bungalow and private 30 ft swimming pool. Take a trip to Ubud (Monkey Forest) and throw a few bananas at the inmates. A bit like social security, really, and just like here, the more you throw, the lazier they become and the more they want...0 -
I think you're over-exaggerating a wee bit, but all the best.They are an EYESORES!!!!0

i've managed to correct that for you.Loughton_Monkey wrote: »Give Cameron a few more years, and the boy might have sorted something out for his mates.0 -
