Credit Cards for Abroad - Need clarification
Comments
-
Just to add to other comments I got a Halifax Clarity card and don't have any other account with them. I went into the branch as I was passing and did the application with a member of staff who got an immediate reply saying the application was approved, the card came about a week later with details of my spending limit etc. It may be that by going into a branch you get a couple of extra points towards a card.0

Does anyone know if this works or is even allowed by Halifax?
 It's against Ts & Cs.
Personally I wouldn't chance the card being stopped.
Just pay it off as soon as you get back and the interest charges will be quite small.
Mine were about £3 for a £4,000 holiday so it really is nothing to worry about.
I know we are all ardent moneysavers but it's very small.
Also I would not recommend using a shared computer abroad and even with wifi you have to be careful with your settings.
Hence I would advise to wait til you get back.0

            Well that was fun....
Just been turned down by Halifax for their Clarity card...lol?
Never had any bad debt ever, I have a mortgage which I have never missed a payment for, never had an overdraft...and never not paid a credit card off in full the month its due.
 Amazing...
You're not on your own. I had a Clarity Card request refused by Halifax yesterday. I own my home and have no mortgage, we have a combined pensions income of £40k have over £300k in investments and don't owe a penny anywhere. I pay my Tesco Mastercard off in full every month and have never paid interest on my CC. Maybe they realise they aren't going to make any money out of me. Still came as a surprise though as I've never been refused credit anywhere.0

I am going away soon and thought I would apply for a Halifax Clarity card for my holiday money/spending. I have a good credit history, plenty of money, etc but halifax have now turned me down too. A poster above mentions going in to a Halifax branch to apply. Would applying again at a branch help? Will they tell me why I have been refused? I started using a Tesco Credit Card within the last 6 mths would that have any effect? Being refused was very unexpected and a bit of a shock. Thanks for your help.0
