Doubtless a really dumb question......
I have a big H Shaped RSJ in my kitchen (being renovated/extended by builder). Builder wants to remove (so to have level ceiling). Building control has authorised this provided builder double joists above.. Above the RSJ is a bedroom. RSJ dosent seem to be supporting anything... is a very deep RSJ and is also in all same style houses as far as I know. House is solid wall
There are of course new steels going in where kitchen is being extended..and I have successfully used this builder before twice.
Builder wants to do this at no cost to me to ensure nice finish on job.
Builders don;t usually do something for nothing (well, not to this level anyway I would have thought)
Was wondering if thers some other reason - i.e. is the beam worth serious money??? is only about 8' long.
I'm looking for some other reason why he would remove this?

It will be easier for him to do the work if it's just one flat ceiling.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

the selling price of the used beam will easy cover his removal costs. esp whilst he is there working on the main job.
itll take very little time to remove.Get some gorm.0 -
Thanks folk. Wonder how much that beam is worth then.... Don't suppose I'll ever find out....still win/win situation if I get a nice even ceiling out of it0
