Screws and double glazing frames

Hi folks

Moved into a new place to me, and found some blinds up at some of the UPVC windows, with the brackets attached to the window frames by screws screwed into the frame.

Have never seen this before, but I'm keen to change the blinds, and add blinds to some of the other windows.

Is it OK to screw into the main window frame, a complete no-no, or are there precautions I should be taking ?

Many thanks

Screws into Upvc is not a problem. if you think about it, the hinges handles etc are all held in place with . . . screws . .

  • It really isn't a problem as long as you use your common sense. A lot of window companies will say it invalidates your warranty but this is a lot of nonsense really. See this article about fitting blinds to UPVC windows

I have had blinds fitted that are inside the sealed unit of my windows which stops them getting dusty, This can be done by just changing the glass and not the whole window. That being said however I did have blinds up at my old house which I screwed through the window frames, I was advised to make the holes just off the corner to avoid splitting the welds of the joints. They worked fine and looked fine so depends on what your looking to spend on them really.
