HELP!! Major Issues with Wedding Suits

Hey there just got a rather annoying letter from a wedding suit shop.

In February a group of 10 went to the shop to get fitted up for my wedding in July. We paid for 4 of them and the other 6 are now paid for all for 850 pounds in total job done or so i thought.

To our delight my fiance's mum has just got a letter demanding over 200 pounds per suit for deposit. Now where do i stand with this nothing was mentioned about any deposit and also they told us once paid for that was all it sorted nothing more.

Can they do this for any unknown reason or is this a breach of a verbal contract?

I really Need Help because with out these suits i cannot get married! :(

You're expecting to hire suits without a deposit?

Do you have anything in writing saying the contract is complete?
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

we have the invoice of payment but as far as i can go they told us everything is paid for and to ask for 1800 in deposits is absolutely ridiculous to pull it up once we paid 850 already
they never mentioned a deposit ever during taking our payments so they have misold and by agreeing a verbal contract of thus with 10 witnesses to hand they have to honour this do they not ?

Basically in february we went in to get suited and booted everything went fine no problem we enquired to the price of hire all they mentioned was 85 per suit and you buy 2 get 1 free.
So we went along took payments they said thats great just pop in in june to make sure you still fit the suits. I asked if any more money is required they said no.

Now i get a letter from them demanding 1800 for 9 suits in deposit.

I cannot see how they can do this legally ?

Your numbers don't add up, yes 10 at £85 is £850 and next you talk about 9 at buy 2 get 1 free which is different?

ps you can get married without the suits...they are not a legal requirement!

basically we brought such an such which would equate to 850 so thats the value of our suits indeed 2 and 1 free is right but they decided to ask for 1800 instead of 2000 which is strange

PLEASE! it's bought not brought! I'm even more confused now you've brought (see what I've done there!) 1800 and 2000 into it!

    9 Suits? 10 suits? £85? Buy 2 get 1 free? £1800? £2000? over £200 per suit????????

Do you have any paperwork from when you agreed the hire?

In the worst case, you can insist that you never agreed to this and you require a refund. Then find an alternative supplier.

Is the exact maths of the transaction relevant?

OP hired suits. Shop now wants more money for a deposit the OP wasn't told about at the time.
