Help! Dad's 60th & I'm Broke!

Hello there,
I wonder if you moneysaving Einsteins out there can help me out.
It's my Dad's 60th Birthday on Januray 30th 2007. I don't have much cash because I'm a reforming character and I've racked up the ole' debt after 7 years at uni. I want to do something very special for him which will not cost the earth.
A few days away somewhere abroad was what I was thinking but I'm worried that will be costly. He is interested in gardening, motorbikes and wine/real ales in particular. He hates heights, walking long distances and football.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
Many thanks,
Zoe

You can buy a wine tasting experience for two people in London for just £30 from play.com:

Hello,
Thanks for your suggestion! I guess between my sister and I would we have a maximum of around £200. Any trip/experience would also have to cover my Mum too, although she may be prepared to help out a little herself.

or on the same note as Dan - http://www.play.com/Gadgets/Gadgets/-/375/475/-/633028/Wine_Tasting_At_A_Vineyard/Product.html?searchtype=genre
then just make him a birthday hamper with some wine/real ales he likes, gardening gloves ect and whatever else he likes0 -
What about tickets for the Chelsea flower show - it's in May, tickets are £40 each and if you Mum was able to chip in, maybe they could combine it with a couple of nights in a nice hotel. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever

as an extra present you could go to the bookpeople website, they have some real bargains, including lots of gardening and sports books and that sort of thing."The Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed" - Ghandi0

Dude tickets for the Edinburgh Tattoo go on sale 4 Dec, it is always a sellout and friday nights have fireworks. If you book this early in advance you could get the tickets accom and train for less than £200.You cant take the trousers off an elephant!0

A bit different this....but how about doing a family tree for him, that's what I'm trying to do for my dads 75th later this year....
There are a few free sites where you can get back a couple of generations for nothing....and if you go to rootschat site there are people there who will do a lot of it for you...just an idea! This post was created in an area that may contain nuts!0 -
If travel and gardening are two of your preferences, how about a trip to the Eden Project with a couple of nights stay, and avoid the aggro of flights etc.
Accomodation will be plentiful at that time of year, and hopefully reasonable.
Staying somewhere like Mevagissy is close to Eden and you might even be able to arrange a brewery visit at St Austell which is very close.Bad Spellers of the world untie0
