Boots kitchen appliances (alarm bell)

Normally I like to buy from John Lewis because of the hastle free experience when something goes wrong.
I was after an LG American style fridge freezer but unfortunately the one I wanted was not available and was on back order for 4 to 6 weeks.
I searched on Google and found the unit I wanted at Boots Kitchen Appliances with the advantage that £27 of Boot's loyalty card points were given. After I purchsed the fridge/freezer I saw the small print saying that Boot's Kitchen Appliances was operated by DRL Ltd.
At first everything looked promissing a delivery day was booked and indeed the day before I received an SMS message and phone call telling me the slot was between 3pm and 7pm and this was confirmed the morning of the delivery day. Well no delivery until the following morning and fortunately I was in. No telephone call saying that delivery could not take place and asking if the next day was ok!!!!
This was perhaps unfortunate but alarm bells really began to ring when I looked at the warranty situation. There is what seems a very good deal with Domestic & General giving 5 years in total cover for an additional £119 ie about £40/year over and above the normal 2 years. You are asked to register the appliance with LG to start the 2 yr warranty and when doing so you are informed that if anything goes wrong there is a £89 LG call out fee!!!
I believe I bought the appliance from Boots and that they are the retailer and responsible for repairs. It looks like they are dumping reponsibility to DRL who in turn are trying to palm you off to LG who want you to take out D&G insurance.
Just hope nothing goes wrong and am wishing I had waited the 4 to 6 weeks to have the comfort of dealing with John lewis.
Any comments on experience with Boots getting appliances fixed under warranty welcome.

I would think you will still have statutory rights with Boots, at least 12 months. The D&G cover should commence after the first year surely?
I have an LG American style fridge freezer that I bought 7 years ago, been perfect, never had any problems (touch wood)
