He's not at work! He's at home dosed up on pain killers, feeling sorry for himself and wanting to get back to a normal life.

Sorry, I dont know where I got the idea he was still at work from.

I wouldnt worry about the visit, perhaps some good will come from it and you will be able to claim something else.

How much is the IIDB, I presume its the same as ESA but I may be wrong.
I do know that you cant claim both
    .
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Did she show you some ID? Did you call the council and check her out? Because this all sounds very dodgy.

yes I saw id and phoned the council as it was so out of the blue (obviously that's the point), it was all ok.

Some years ago when me and my partner went to claim council tax we were asked to provide two forms of id. This we didn't have a problem with until the council staff said that they would have to scan the documents that we had provided them with. I had shown them my credit card and my driving licence. My partner showed them her driving licence and another document. I think that it was a building society statement. The reason given was that they were required to scan the documents and store the scans on their computer. We flatly refused to allow them to do this as our obligations in claiming council tax had been met by us. They got very shirty with us, but we were not phased by this at all. They kept us waiting and waiting. Every so often they would have a go at trying to pursued us to allow them to scan our documents, Each time we would refuse. We explained to them that we had met our obligations and we were going to be claiming our council tax and if they refused then we would be making a complaint. They remained shirty with us. I then asked them if Barclay card visa new what they were doing as I am sure that they would have a fit if they new. It would be a breach of my security if I were to allow them to scan and store my credit card on their computer and if they liked, then they could write me a letter stating that they would take full responsibly for any fraud that may occur. We didn't even get to mention our driving licences as they were off to their back office to concider what it was that I had just said to them. After a short while one of the ladies returned to us and suggested a home visit as a way around the problem. We asked how that would work and we were told that the person who comes to visit would not have any way to scan our documents or id's. If you do not want them to scan your documents then tell them so. You are only required to produce two forms of id in order to prove who you are and that is all.:)
