Hi Im with Halifax and I had a quick question I have an old mac G5 power mac. Bought originally for £1500 now its been damaged and doesnt work im thinking of claiming on the insurance.
Will they give me a new mac pro because theres no way they can get them again or will they give me what its worth now which is next to nothing?

It depends on your policy. Mine has new for old cover, but still had a fight with Norwich Union a few years ago (Aviva) as they sent me a sub-standard laptop as a replacement when my old one was stolen. Eventually got the full original purchase price refunded but was hard work.0

If they do, I'm swapping to Halifax . .0

If you have new for old, they should replace it with the nearest equivalent model.0

What was the cause of the damage?0

Just broke my LCD stand and tried to save it falling off and knocked over my pint of water on it

Apparently they will replace it for the nearest model new as well not 2nd hand so fingers crossed0 -
As Geri mentioned they will replace it with an equivalent new model, however as technology increases in power the chances are they could replace a top of the range apple from say 2 years ago with a mid to bottom range current apple and it be equivalent0

Thats very true thing is a lot of suppliers dont keep the older models well will see!0
