in Credit cards
I know this is a credit card forum so hope this is not in to0 wrong a place!!!
But can anyone explin to me how debit cards work in relatin to when payments come out of the account.
I paid a payment over the phone on my debit card yesterday and the amount paid appeared pending when i phond my bank and is still pending today. So its behaving like a BACS payment does.
But h#when i use my debit card in an ATM or for cash back I always thought the money came out of the account straight away.
So are there different methods of moving money that are triggered when you give you debit card details to shops/sellers/babks etc.
Some resulting in the money gooing straight away and some via the BACS process? can you tell before hand which method is going to be used?

UK ATM's the money will debit real time, foreign ATM's usually takes a day or so to debit.
Debit card purchases, debit anytime !!! 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, just deduct it from your balance whether it's debited or not. Cashback is classed as a debit card purchase.0
