quite opposite - open the door and tell him to go...
they do not knock, they bash so louldy (on purpose) to raise curiosity amongst your neigbours to indimate you and they will stay there for quite a long, so open the door to cut it quickly, tell him you do not buy anything / not interested at all and ask him to leave your property and never come back.
if he refuses, tell him he is trespasser and call the police (do call)
and DO NOT identify yourself - just tell him you don't disclose your personal details to some random strangers

If some one banged that hard on my door I would open it then let him say what he needs to say y then I would simply say NO i do not owe anyone anything ok My mate did this and the bloke said mmmmmmmmmmmm I c well it is going to have to go back to the americans?? it was a capital one debt my mate then said well when it does tell them I owethem nothing he replied "they say you do" my mate said if they think I owe them noney then tell them to prove it in court cos you aint gettin anything out of me . he then walked off in to the sunset pilgrims.:rotfl:

Part of the Furniture 10,000 Posts Name Dropper Xmas Saver!
I would tell him to go away, although make sure you call them or they will just pass you to some other dca
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

Don't call them is the best advice. If they do pass it to another DCA, so what?

He went away in the end. I just spoke to them through the intercom. He had said he was there on behalf of RBS, hence why I knew where he was from.

Time to get my SOA in order...
