just wondered if anyone has been in this situation .

6 weeks ago our golden retriever bit our dd on her ear which resulted in 20 stiches so he went back to the breeder who siad if she wasn't able to re home him he would be pts but he is now with a lovely couple .

last week we took our 9 year old cat to the vet and he had a blood clot and was pts .
Ijust feel so sad all the time .i miss my dog but feel guilty for missing him cos of dd and i miss my puddy cat . i have mad moments when i want to o and get another dog but then realise i can't do that .thanks to anyone who reads this x

how old is your daughter? why did the dog bite her? I always thought golden retrievers were quite placid dogs.

I'm so sorry for your double loss :(

You are bound to have mixed feelings, especially as your daughter got injured - I do hope she is making a good recovery.

Maybe in time, you could have another cat? I had my cat pts at the beginning of February and thought I would never get over my loss, but actually I feel much better now.

oh dear - how sad neveah. but you did the right thing returning him to the breeder. so sorry about your cat too.
Listen hun, I was watching breakfast news today and they were talking about the shortage of foster carers for animals whose owners are escaping domestic violence - the RSPCA have a scheme where they provide temporary care for pets while the owners are sorting their lives out - but have 400 enquiries a month and only 80 foster carers.........could you perhaps do that? they want experienced pet owners and provide support. I am thinking of doing this as am currently petless! I think its such a worthwhile cause. I think details are on the bbc breakfast website.

Sorry to hear about your losses, neveah. You did your best for your cat and dog. May I suggest you walk other people's dogs. I walk several for my friends, and love it. Have you a rescue near you, could you be a volunteer dog walker? Don't rush into getting another one just yet, maybe think about it for a while, you will know when you are ready.
