Turn carport into large shed

This is just a speculative enquiry at the moment.
We have a carport that is constructed of 4 brickwork pillars spaced about 6ft apart, and a roof.
Would i need planning permission to put simple timber "walls" up and turn it into what would be effectively a big shed. I have no interest in making it a garage, or providing access to it via the house.
Thanks in advance
