I'd have a word with the CSA, explain the situation and ask them when payments should stop. And then just stop them! It makes no difference if she is still claiming CB or not, as it's a private arrangement. She is unlikely to kick up a fuss, as, in your case it sounds as if she shouldn't be claiming CB after he leaves school. If she doesn't let CB know, then that is her problem.

The parent with care obviously relies on the maintenance payments. I would advise your husband to write to her and explain that he needs to see proof of when child benefit payments are being paid to her until. Ask her to advise you or you will just assume they will stop at the same time as your child finishes school, and in turn so will maintenance.

Why do you allow an ex to be in total control? She relies on you not the other way round.

Like I said before, I do not want to go into personal details but she does not 'rely' on the payments.

Yes, thank you for this, I think my husband will have to ring the CSA to get an exact date for his last payment. As I said, he's had nothing to do with the CSA for over a decade and the payments have been made direct but I think we do need to contact them for a definitive answer.

Was your H's case formally closed or is it still open? The PWC can still request for the CSA to be involved, even to the point of collecting payments.

From what he can remember, it was sorted out well over a decade ago, all that happened was the CSA worked out an amount that had to be paid and then told my husband (I've only been married to him for a few years so I wasn't around then) and he's paid it direct ever since. They have not had an involvement at all since then so, to be honest, I've no idea if the case was ever 'formally closed'.
