Personally, I think it is utterly, utterly ridiculous that a family on £45k a year are entitled to any benefits - but that is a discussion for DT I suppose.

I am delighted that the Government have finally started cutting back on the ridiculous tax credits. Time for frivolous families with big debts to start paying their own way instead of expecting the tax payer to pay their debts. Time to start really thinking about whether they can afford another child and is working part time really a realistic option?

Personally VikTroy you are an JACKASS You referring to TAX PAYERS as if this family isn't paying taxes. Why bring her children into this? were't you a child once, well it seems like you were born with a silverspoon in your mouth. It is always the next generation will continue developing this world. How selfish your statemnents are. I hope you don't fall in a pitfall worse than hers, if you do please don't hesitate to post it all on here for all to see and hope you do get the advice you were looking. Wake up and see what is happing around you. The whole country is falling apart and it has nothing to do with this lady. Go pick on those sit on their BACKSIDES doing nothing to support the economy and milking the system and STOP picking on this Lady she is not only contributing but she is entitled to help, WHY! because she pays into the SYSTEM like everybody else. and as my first opinion of you I will repeat it again you are a JACKASS.

Hi Sugababy, my tax credits have gone down by £80 this month but mine was due to the baby element not being paid anymore. Is that possibly why they may have gone down? The government scrapped the baby element.

No my children are age 8 & 13yrs, I work 30hrs I do not have chidcare my daugher and I both get the disability element I am a single claimant. I am completely loss as to how they work this out.

I don't need to find another quote; that one says it all. Incidentally, lack of basic spelling and grammar is indicative of someone who is less than intelligent.

alternatively, it is indictaive of someone who is posting messages on a message board, and not sitting in an exam or writing a thesis at that moment in time.

I thought the baby element is only £42 per month though?

If you earn under £30k then your tax credits this year should be higher, if your income hasn't changed since 2009/10.

What does it say on your latest award (this will have a section for run-on payments after April this year)? You may have to wait till they process the renewal to get the higher amount.

This is similar to what my son says when I tell him off for using text speak in an msn or text message.

My argument is that by continually doing so makes you lazy and more prone to writing incorrectly when it matters...amazingly, his English teacher agrees with me.

Yes, I am the sad begger who uses full words and punctuation in texts :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

OT, I know, but wouldn't an 'intelligent' person use correct spelling and grammar without thinking about it i.e. all the time? Otherwise, it is about academic ability rather than 'intelligence', isnt it?

OP - have you been claiming tax credits for the childcare your in laws pay?

I also think £30 is a lot for the lottery and you can reduce your shopping bill. I would reconsider the £20 for digital TV for the time being too.

None of it will make a huge difference as it's the childcare that is crippling you, as said, but if you can just hold on until your children are in school, your situation will improve dramatically.

I assumed that the £30 entertainment cost was for more than just lottery. A family of 4 might want to go swimming sometimes, or to the cinema.

Also, the grocery bill might include clothes, up to 2 children in nappies etc.

I think this post assume that Victory doesnt like middle class earners getting tax credits but supports low income people getting just as much.

To be fair i dont think he has ever said as much, he could quite easily not like them claiming either. The point is when the taxpayer subsidises your lifestyle to any degree no matter your income you open yourself up to recriminations as to how their money is spent.

    Harsh but unavoidable unfortunately

On topic, your part time job does not merit your childcare costs, either go full time to earn more (and pay more) or lose the job and one car to stay at home with your kids
