Groupon.COM and uk credit cards

I subscribed to some of the US groupon emails a couple of weeks ago in advance of a holiday in the US later this year. I've now seen one I would like to purchase, however, I'm having trouble entering my UK credit card details as I'm getting an "Invalid zip code" error, even after setting the state/province to be the UK. Was wondering if anyone else had had this problem and if there was a way round it?

no issues - we've bought several US Groupons for Vegas before.
You're putting the space between the first and last parts of your postcode? I only ask as some US sites require them to be run together without spaces, but I've checked and our account is XXX XXX.
I did have our credit card blocked after purchasing one once - it was $15, charge comes through from Chicago and it was flagged as potentially fraudulent activity...not sure why as we've used that card in the US loads of times, but may have been that we'd charged something in the UK the same day and couldn't be two places at once.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Thanks ferf1223, I've tried with and without spaces.... and have also successfully used the card in question in the states before... it's a bit strange!0

Try a random US zip code?0

Try a random US zip code?
They are asking for the billing address of the credit card, rather than just a general address, so don't think it would like a random US post code too much either in that situation!
It seems the card company might be part of the problem, they've been on the phone to my OH, but then put him on hold and have now hung up on him. Will pursue that avenue of enquiry.0 -
I've bought two seperate deals for the states in the past month or two and never had this issue, the only problem I did have is hsbc refusing the purchase as they thought it was c/c fraudLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

That's so strange - I also had a Groupon US purchase flagged as '"fraudulent" recently on my Post Office credit card. I only ever use it when abroad so actually it's been used in America more than here!
Re. how to purchase, I've never noticed anything strange about the way you have to input your details so can't think of anything which might help. I was going to suggest checking that under the state/province option you've chosen 'United Kingdom' but as it seems you've already tried that don't know what else to suggest0 -
I have also had a recent (last week) US groupon purchase flagged as fraud and I had a call from PO security.
Had no problem actually using it on the site though0 -
I realise it's an old thread, but I encountered same issue as OP and have just found a way around it, thought I would just post a solution for others.
The trick is to first add your credit card details under "My Account" (Credit Card tab). Then proceed to complete purchase.
Unless you do that, Groupon won't accept UK postal codes during checkout for some strange reason!!
Anyway, hope someone will find this helpful
