Electric cookie press

I bought one of those electric cookie presses (I know, but I was seduced by it on a dull day in Lidls) so I could make lots of lovely looking biscuits.
But, the instructions are in german and I can't work the silly thing (ie: it actually works, and dough comes out, but its hard to form a cookie properly, if you see what I mean)
Even using the recipie provided all the cookies come out as shapeless splodges after cooking, and they don't look too great on the baking tray before they go in the oven either.
Anyone else got one and have any tips for using one, and/or recipies that are good to work with?
