I've only had a letter stating my direct debit detail they require,my wife had rung them stating them not to bother and we would go else where for our services,on reply they said that will cost you £150,what for what not even stepping in my street ? Robbing barstewards ! Where do I stand on this

  • How did you place the original order?

How long was it between you placing the order and requesting the cancellation?

Was any particular installation date ever discussed or agreed?

    Quote them their own T&C's:

    Cancellation

    1. You may cancel your agreement for the service before the service start date set out in the service terms. If you do so we will not charge you for the service.

    Hi,
When we moved into our flat, there was already 2 sockets.
We phoned BT to have a line put in, they asked us all the usual and we signed up to something like £30-£50 a month.
We thought fine, nothing of it.
We had the line connected, they had only reconnected the previous number for previous occupants.
We then got a BT bill in and it said we had to pay our usual bill plus £128.00 because their engineer had already been and installed a socket (not true!)

Anyway, when we complained, the woman said that BT charged us in error and refunded the £128.00
    Not with them anymore!

The charge is exactly the same whether BT provision an entirely new line or reconnect an existing line.
The pertinent point is whether there is a dial tone on the existing line or not. If not, you will probably be charged the full amount.
