Balance Transfer Error

I did a balance transfer from MBNA Credit Card to pay off a Tesco Credit Card but it appears MBNA inputted 2 of the last 4 digits wrong, I did the transfer over the phone, the one I did online appeared to have got to Tesco so it appears the member of staff either misheard or accidently inputted the number incorrectly.
I am just wondering has anyone had this problem before, am I liable if they cannot recover the cash? When I spoke to MBNA they suggested they can get the money back from Tesco and it will take 3 days to investigate.
Not sure how important the last 4 digits of a card is and whether they will be another identical card as mine with the numbers the member of staff inputted.
Thanks

If the account number exists, then the money will have gone to that person's card account - if it doesn't exist, it will end up in a holding account before eventually being returned. If it's gone to someone else's account then you may have a small fight on your hands to get it back - hopefully the recipient will notice and instruct the bank to return the money. Otherwise, it'll probably be a long, drawn out process, chasing the originating bank and the receiving bank - but you should be able to get it back - eventually!
As for who's fault it is - maybe it was the person on the other end of the telephone, maybe it was yours - only way to prove it one way or the other is to request a copy of the recording they may have made.
Good luck!My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.
